this fandom (and tumblr in general) has a severe lesbophobia problem that no one is interested in addressing because they think identifying as queer absolves them of their bigotry
#you even see it extended to characters like taash#because they are a gnc fem-presenting person#which at the end of the day is the root of a lot of lesbophobia#specifically the rejection of the socially acceptable understanding of womanhood and femininity#i could go on for ages about how lesbianism is inherently antithetical to binary gender but that's another post#anyway just because you like to see men kiss or are queer yourself doesn't make you immune to lesbophobia#just food for thought

i would have put more emphasis on lakes sexuality in her original season. We only know she’s a lesbian because of a pride post. It would have been cool to see her talking about it with Rosa maria or maggy. About how she doesn’t want to get married to this guy because she isn’t attracted to men, but doesn’t have the words to describe it. Maybe Rosa and maggy help her realize that being same sex attracted is normal and nothing wrong with it. (Maggy autocorrected to maggot like 4 times wtf)

just started reading book 3 in this series and page 1 is taking no prisoners hgdshdslk
#YOURE DAMN RIGHT HES UNDESERVING#for like a solid half of book 2 i was going ''im going to strangle this man''#i think the worst part is how oblivious he is to his own shortcomings#like if he was cruel that would be one thing#but no he just. does not see women as people. and it never occurs to him that there could be anything amiss in his view of the world#krista d. ball said 'this man does not deserve a first name' and she was RIGHT#anyway please read the ladies occult society books by krista d ball if you like regency settings#specifically with a lot of detail. i cant speak to how Historically Accurate(tm) it is but there is clearly SO much care put into all of it#like describing the logistics of having dresses made and suchlike#it reminds me of in little women when they talk about needing new ribbon for a bonnet or something but like More of that. i love it#eliza does a lot of very careful budgeting because she has to#oh uh. content warning for several kinds of abuse. for sure financial & reproductive abuse but possibly other kinds as well#i feel like im not really selling the series here but it is SO interesting#focused on all the little ways women eke out some independence in a society that systematically denies them any#also theres magic#as of the end of book 2 there are bickering lesbian ghosts#im pretty sure anyway. lesbianism not yet confirmed but like. frankly i would be very surprised if theyre not gay#characters who were never married but are still somehow divorced.#i should also say it isnt Romance it is Historical Fantasy#i think there is going to be a romance at some point. but it is definitely not the main focus & it's possible there wont be one#im rooting for mr sidney sinclair at the moment but we dont know him that well yet. he might turn out not to be trustworthy#anyway. good series. enjoying it#bookposting

People shouldn't try to do straight covers of Slipknot because no other metal band in the world has that many fucking members so it'll come off sounding a little hollow, you've gotta get weird with it and put your own spin in there
#like otep's version of purity#not that industrial metal's leading lesbian could do a *straight* cover anyway lol#that said. otep is a master of covers and also i prefer Despise (the demo version of purity)#i'm not always big on straight covers anyway#it's important to me that if say arcane roots are covering nirvana it sounds like arcane roots are playing a nirvana track#not that arcane roots are trying to be nirvana because they're a different band with their own different strengths#it's why their Smell's Like Teen Spirit was a standout on the kerrang nirvana album#it's why madina lake's Caught Somewhere in Time cover hits harder than most of the rest of the kerrang maiden covers#and it's why there's a massive difference in quality on the Metallica Black Album tribute album#because some artists are willing to get cool and weird with it and some aren't#there are other metal bands who have done some great covers but we ain't gonna talk about them-#-because politically speaking i'm looking them in the eyes while strangling them to death

btw of the Discworld books I've been reading over the last couple weeks, by far my favorite is Men at Arms and the reason is 50% there's really excellent writing, and 50% HOLY SHIT ANGUA AND CARROT ARE SO GOOD TOGETHER
#I haven't used this term much recently but I have no choice...#Angua and Carrot are OTP#I remember really rooting for them when I read Discworld books back in high school#and my opinion if anything is stronger now that I am wiser and more worldly and also less oblivious#also uhhhhh looking back I know why I latched onto Angua back then#she is a kickass blonde werewolf with a troubled backstory and hot DAMN does that make feel lesbian feelings#why is it I never see posts about Angua and/or Carrot on my dash#sure I don't follow any Discworld blogs but every now and then I see Discworld posts#and they're almost always about Moist and I don't think I read the books he's in bc I do not recall him At All#(then again I forgot Vimes was the protag of the Night Watch books so maybe I did read the books featuring Moist)#I also don't see NEARLY enough posts about trans icon Cheery Littlebottom HELLO???#who is one of the few characters I recalled but not as much as Angua and Carrot#bc again Carrot and Angua are my fave. to the point I remembered actual quotes from the books ft. them#anyways this has been ''speechie reminisces about Discworld'' time to go back to whatever I was doing before#speecher speaks

I previously avoided it because I don't have it in me to get invested in a show that sounds so up my alley to then face the "hehe cancelled with no resolution, creators & audiences can go fuck themselves" heartbreak (*cough cough teenage bounty hunters sense8 GLOW October faction first kill the get down the wilds everything sucks! santa clarita diet I am not okay with this, etc *cough cough*)
*saved seems like a strong word because lez b real the state of television, streaming service television specifically, is in fucking shambles so I'd be shocked if it gets more room than 1 season to finish its story but idk any of the deets so who knows
